Doctoral Research Workshop with Ass. Prof. Zeynep Kutluata
On June 20, 2025, Zeynep Kutluata will hold a doctoral research workshop on Turkish History and Gender Studies. The workshop is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am.
Zeynep Kutluata is an Assistant Professor at Kadir Has University (since 2020), specializing in history with a keen focus on gender dynamics, women's movements, militarism, and citizenship in the Ottoman and early Republican periods. She earned her PhD and Master's degree in History from Sabancı University, and holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University .
Before joining KHAS, she taught at Işık University from 2015 to 2020. She leads a TÜBİTAK‑ARDEB funded national research project (2022–2025) on “Widows and the Concept of Widowhood in Ottoman Modernization” , and instructs courses such as Gender and History, History of Modern Turkey, and Gender and Memory.
Also known for her work on “Women and War” during the Ottoman and early republican eras (e.g., on the legendary “Black Fatma(s)”), she has contributed to podcasts and academic events to share her research publicly.
